Economics Department
The Department of Economics is one of the oldest departments in Government P.G. College for Women, Rohtak. One of the most sought after courses, an Honours in Economics is highly reputed and well recognized in the industry. It introduces students to the basics of Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, quantitative techniques, Development Economics and other specialized areas like Public Finance, International Trade, Money and Financial Markets, and Indian Economy. The undergraduate programme in Economics offers a set of courses designed to acquaint the students with rigorous economic theories and quantitative tools of economic analysis.
The course is taught by a committed and experienced faculty who encourage students to link economic theories with the contemporary world economy. The faculty encourages the students to promote vibrant team-work that prepares the students to take up challenges further on in their career. The department uses student-centric pedagogic tools and encourages collaborative learning, participative learning and experiential learning.
Due to the pandemic, the teaching learning shifted to online mode. As per the recommendation of DHE, we are using Google Meet and Google Classroom. In fact, we shifted to these platforms way back in April, 2020 when classes were disrupted due to the Lockdown thereby trying to ensure continuity and quality in our teaching-learning processes.
We also focus on giving extra reading material to students and create opportunities for them to explore further and express themselves.
The department engages in mentoring students in many ways including academic matters, career counselling, mental health, guidance in preparing for competitive exams and guidance in preparation of entrance exams.
The discipline of Economics has served as the foundation for a variety of career opportunities.
